Michael Carson
Artist's Statement/Quote
"My work is figurative studies. My nondescript or generic surroundings help me fill a mood or a story that I'm trying to relay. My inspirations come from architectural interiors as well as fashion."
Michael Carson has a contemporary, impressionistic style that presents a new portrayal of traditional scenes. His art focuses on figurative studies where he emphasizes the relationships of color, light, and texture to move a viewer's eye through the art.
The nondescript or generic surroundings in his paintings help him illustrate a mood or tell a story. Carson draws inspiration from architectural interiors and fashion. Paintings let him explore and explain this side of himself. Carson began his formal art education with two years at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Before graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, he studied commercial illustration. He worked as a product designer before choosing to pursue painting full time.
