Steve Hanks
Artist's Statement/Quote
"I try to capture a certain introspective solitude in my figures and deal with the vulnerability that all of us sometimes feel."
Steve Hanks, whose paintings sensitively portray women and children, spent his childhood on the coast of California. His inspiration to paint developed in his late teens after his family moved from Ventura County to New Mexico. Hanks returned to the West Coast when he enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley. Hanks' book, "Poised Between Heartbeats," captures over 170 of his beautiful paintings. It has won accolades from critics and collectors.
