The simple, spiritual beauty displayed in the works of
award winning artist Derk Hansen truly communicates his deep appreciation of wildlife and
land.
Born in West Germany, Hansen traveled the world in his
young adult life with the Merchant Marines and his early jobs. Settling in Minnesota, he
began his painting career. He continues to travel to gain inspiration and ideas for his
paintings. Hansen remarks, "If I can communicate nature’s mysterious beauty to
an individual who may never have a chance to get close to those circumstances, then I am
truly making a contribution."
